The second largest trade floor in Sydney, the newly built Castle Hill Bunnings store offers 2 floors of hardware retail and 2 floors of car parking.
The challenge:
• Supply over 14,000m³ of concrete for the construction of the new store
• Average concrete pour size of 400m³ – 680m³
• From Tuesday 31st January – Wednesday 1st February 2012, pour a whopping 1,264m³
• Around 4000m³ of the concrete required to be a post-tension mix with a burnished finish for the trading floor.
This achievement required much forward planning between both Adco Constructions and Metromix, with staff working as a team around the clock to ensure smooth deliveries with minimal hold-ups and a consistent, high quality product.
Metromix required a balance in the mix design in order to meet all of the specifications, and as a result our Seven Hills and Wetherill Park plants underwent changes to their raw material storage. For the 1264m³ pour Metromix supplied 33 trucks in total; 18 from the Wetherill Park plant and 15 from the Seven Hills plant. At the busiest times there were 6 trucks delivering to 3 concrete pumps!
On completing the substantial 1200m³ pour, John emphasised the importance of the relationship Adco has forged with Metromix:
“After several years, we are still dealing with many of the same people within Metromix’s business. This means for me that your business understands our needs through experience and relationship before we start the next project. I also find the Metromix team take on a ‘can do’ attitude and work through the details so they deliver for Adco”.
“Everything planned and promised was delivered. That level of performance adds strength to the relationship we have built with our client, Bunnings”.
